Thailand, one of Asia’s primary travel destinations, attracts almost 40 million visitors each year. The Country is known for its tropical beaches, local heritages, ancient ruins, and royal palaces. The cultural integrity of Thailand remains largely intact since, without being colonized, it has been able to absorb Western influences while maintaining its own culture.

In Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, visitors can experience an intriguing blend of modern and historic cultures, with modern skyscrapers rising next to quiet riverside communities and the iconic eighteenth-century Grand Palace.

Northern Thailand, with its beautiful and mountainous geography, is a playground for outdoor pursuits. Plenty of waterfalls, caves as well as whitewaters and jungle trails in the region are prefect for hiking, rafting, and kayaking. Northern provinces, like Chiangmai, also have a unique historic culture with strong traditions rooted in arts, crafts and festivals.

Southern Thailand is home to the country’s gorgeous beaches, dreamy tropical islands, and magnificent coastlines. The coasts of Thailand are comprised of the Gulf of Thailand coast in the East and the Andaman coast in the West. East coast islands have rugged beauty and are dominated in parts by small fishing villages. Major islands on the East Coast are Samui island, one of the best-known resort islands, Pha Ngan island, the birthplace of the world-famous full moon parties, and Tao island, home to Southeast Asia’s biggest dive-training center.

The West coast of Thailand, being a part of the Andaman Sea and a greater Indian ocean, offers a more exhilarating scenery and heavenly beaches with deep clear water and the finest coral reefs in the country. Major islands on the Andaman Coast are Phuket, the largest and most popular island of Thailand, Phi Phi islands, the site of the movie The Beach, along with other small and spectacular islands such as Lanta island, an exotic island off the coast of Krabi and Racha and Coral islands, a small paradise getaway off the coast of Phuket.

Thailand has a tropical climate with hot and humid weather. It has 3 official seasons: Summer (March-May), Rainy (June-Oct), and Winter (Nov-Feb). Temperature in the Summer varies between 25°C-35°C while Winter has a more pleasant temperature of 18°C-26°C. The best time to visit Thailand is when the climate is not wet – this means either Winter (the best season for all destinations) or Summer (great time for beaches and islands).

There are 2 international airports in Bangkok that a vast majority of travelers fly into: Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and Don Muang Airport (DMK). However, Thailand also has 5 other international airports serving Chiang Mai in the North and Hat Yai, Krabi, Phuket and Samui island in the South where travelers can fly direct into during high travel season.
